Alpha 1
Welcome to TrueVote Alpha
It’s time we vote on our phones!
With the United States General Election one week from today, we determined this was the optimal moment to unveil our pioneering platform through a simulated election experience.
Let us emphasize unequivocally that TrueVote maintains absolute political neutrality. Our singular focus is developing the world’s preeminent election platform. Regardless of your political ideology, our mission is to deliver an exemplary voting experience that serves every citizen.
Your ballot undergoes a sophisticated process: submission, cryptographic hashing, and immutable timestamping on the Bitcoin blockchain via Opentimestamps, precisely as delineated in our comprehensive TrueVote white paper. We’ve elaborated on this methodology in a previous publication.
Through this Alpha release, you can experience firsthand a glimpse into the future of democratic participation. Traditional in-person voting and paper ballots represent antiquated methodologies that lack scalability and accuracy. While smartphones facilitate virtually every aspect of modern life, voting has remained conspicuously absent from this digital revolution. Until now.
Election Access Codes
Participation in any election necessitates an “Election Access Code” (EAC). Typically, this credential is generated and distributed by authorized election authorities, such as your local county or state administration, to verified, eligible voters within their jurisdiction.
The EAC enables ballot submission while maintaining complete anonymity. This sophisticated system ensures that your ballot remains entirely dissociated and decoupled from your identity. The connection between a submitted ballot and its corresponding user account remains cryptographically impossible to establish — Not by TrueVote, not by anyone.
Secure Account Access
TrueVote leverages Nostr for secure, modern authentication. This means no passwords to remember — just a unique digital key that’s safely stored on your device. While this approach might be new to some users, it provides enhanced security and puts you in complete control of your account access. Don’t worry — the app will guide you through this simple process when you first sign up.
How to Participate
So, to participate in this mock election, you need an EAC. To acquire an EAC for this Alpha, simply head over to our sign up page on our company web site and submit your email address.
If you encounter difficulties with the sign-up page on our company web site, or have previously registered, please send an email to electionadmin@truevote.org with “Alpha EAC Request” in the subject line.
During this private Alpha phase, EACs undergo manual generation and distribution, requiring a brief batch processing period of approximately 1–2 hours. You’ll receive correspondence from “TrueVote Election Admin” containing your unique EAC and a deep link to get started.
Feedback
You can leave us feedback and observations directly through the app under Menu->About->Submit Feedback.
As this is an Alpha release, you may experience an issue or two. Please let us know if you do and we’ll be sure to address it.
Open Source Transparency
Unlike the opaque, proprietary systems commonly used in today’s elections, TrueVote embraces radical transparency. Our entire codebase is open source and available for public scrutiny.
This means security researchers, election officials, and concerned citizens can audit every line of code that powers our platform. We believe election software should be transparent by default — not hidden behind corporate barriers, intellectual property claims, or patent restrictions.
The integrity of our democratic process is too important to be locked away as corporate trade secrets. This commitment to openness ensures that our system can be independently verified by anyone, anywhere.
Road to Beta 1
With the successful deployment of our Alpha release, we progress toward Beta development.
Beta 1 Roadmap (partial):
- Profile Enhancements — TrueVote account management and transactional emails
- Election Admin Dashboard — A sophisticated interface for election creation and EAC management
- Multi-Lingual — As promised, TrueVote is not just for United States english speakers, It’s for everyone. Comprehensive localization of many languages is a top-priority.
- Enhanced Nostr Integration enabling seamless multi-device profile synchronization
Beta 2
Following the successful implementation of Beta 1 and the execution of several sanctioned live elections, we’ll incorporate our operational insights to inform subsequent development phases.
Beta 2 Roadmap (partial):
- App — While mobile Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) offer remarkable (underrated) functionality, we’re developing a native application to optimize mobile push notifications
- Infrastructure Enhancement — Global scalability necessitates expansion of our Azure infrastructure, including deployment of Hosted Opentimestamps Calendar Server Cluster and Hosted Nostr Relay Server Cluster
- Advanced Analytics Suite — Comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities
